A different court from everything else on this site
Most of what a local firm handles in Onondaga County happens in the justice courts, twenty-six town and village courts plus Syracuse City Court, and which one you are in depends entirely on where you were standing when something happened.
Divorce does not work that way. In New York it is a Supreme Court matter — Supreme Court being the trial court of general jurisdiction here, despite the name, and the papers are filed through the Onondaga County Clerk. Venue generally follows where a party lives rather than where anything took place.
Nobody appears
In a genuinely uncontested divorce, the ordinary outcome is that neither spouse goes to court at all. There is no hearing to attend, no morning taken off work, no waiting on a bench. A judge reviews the file and signs the judgment.
This is the opposite of a traffic ticket, where the whole question is which building you have to be in and when. It is worth saying plainly, because a lot of people put off starting a divorce imagining a courtroom that, in an uncontested case, does not happen.

Which means our address matters less here
We are honest elsewhere on this site that our nearest office to Syracuse is in Cicero, about ten miles north, and that for court matters it makes no practical difference because most of the county’s courts are outside the city anyway.
For an uncontested divorce it matters even less than that. A matter conducted on paper does not care where the lawyer sits. What you actually need is somebody who returns calls, drafts the agreement so it holds, and gets the filing right the first time, and none of those improve with a downtown postcode.

The court fees are statewide, not local: $335 minimum, $210 for the index number and $125 for the Note of Issue and Request for Judicial Intervention filed together.
